Aims of the Programme
The development of students' analytical skills is central to the Birmingham International Relations with German programme. Core modules at each level have been designed progressively to develop them. They are then applied and developed in a range of optional modules. The core 'research' module at level one and optional module at level two also help to draw out and emphasise the generic applications of these skills. The core modules are designed to offer students a thorough intellectual grasp of the theory and practice of international relations in preparation for their final year dissertations, to which the department attaches considerably significance, reflected in its weight in the final degree result.
